404 Error on Single Topic Pages – Need Help!

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing 404 errors when trying to access single topic pages. The forum index page works fine, but clicking on any topic shows a 404 error.

Environment:

  • WordPress: 6.4.2
  • Forumax: 2.0.0
  • Theme: Astra
  • PHP: 8.2

What I’ve tried:

  1. Saved permalinks (Settings → Permalinks → Save Changes)
  2. Deactivated other plugins
  3. Checked .htaccess file

Any suggestions on what else I should check? Thanks!

Hi John!

This is a common issue. Try these additional steps:

  1. Go to Forumax → Settings → Pages and ensure the forum page is properly assigned
  2. Re-save permalinks twice (yes, twice in a row sometimes helps!)
  3. Check if your theme has any custom rewrite rules that might conflict

If that doesn’t work, try temporarily switching to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Four to rule out theme conflicts.
