What is IELTS?

IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is designed to measure the language ability of English test takers who want to study or work in a place or country where English is used as the main medium of communication and instruction. IELTS Test Format

The IELTS test has two modules; the Academic Module and the General Training Module. Each IELTS candidate takes the same test, no matter what his or her English level is. So the information on this page is useful and important to students of every level.

IELTS Academic

IELTS Academic is for test takers wishing to study at undergraduate or postgraduate levels, and for those seeking professional registration.

IELTS General Training

IELTS General Training is for test takers wishing to migrate to an English-speaking country (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK), and for those wishing to train or study at below degree level.

Four IELTS Test Components

Each organisation sets its own entry requirements. In some cases both Academic or General Training may be accepted. If you are in doubt as to which to take, you should contact the organisation you are applying to in order to check their requirements.

IELTS Preparation Course
